Jack's Story

A woman in Middletown had put an ad in the paper for a mini and saddle for $500.00. Since we lived in town, we were curious and went to see him with our children. The owner brought this listless creature from under a treehouse that had a 6x6 fence around it that was 4 feet high. He held his head down. His mane and tail were caked with manure, and his hooves were very long. His skin was white and atrocious looking. My husband said, “We are taking him home immediately,” and we put him in the back of our van, took him to our house and groomed him in the basement. My husband carried him up and down the basement stairs to get him outside for a full week. The farrier came and the vet gave him his shots. He started perking up around the fourth day, and actually started whinnying and running in the backyard. We took him to my sister-in-law’s and let him go in the field and he went nuts, whinnying, and bucking, and running.

Update: Jack and Donkey are back from a long vacation in Deep Creek, Maryland. We want to thank Riley Wiltison for taking such good care of his little buddies.
